Community wind farm "Immenbeck" in Buxtehude

In 2016, working together with site owners and BürgerEnergie Buxtehude eG, WindStrom commissioned a wind farm with three Enercon E-115s. In the process, owner associations were founded for each wind turbine. The local energy cooperative is responsible for one of these associations.

Residents from the town and surrounding areas were informed of the plans in advance and, during the construction phase at the end of 2015, they were given the opportunity to contribute to the financing of the wind turbine by way of a subordinated loan as members of the energy cooperative. A fixed rate of 4.2% was set out in the contract for a term of 15 years. This form of contribution was met with much interest and, within two weeks, a loan of over 1 million euros was underwritten. The equity capital required for financing the project was thus greatly exceeded.

The wind energy plant was commissioned on schedule on 30 June 2016 and inaugurated ceremoniously with a wind festival on 3 September 2016.

“We found cooperation with WindStrom very fair and open at all times. As novices, we had a lot of questions which were always answered patiently and competently”, stresses Robert Neumann, one of the chairpersons of BürgerEnergie Buxtehude. “We can certainly imagine cooperating with WindStrom on further projects – even in view of a call for tender as stipulated by the new Renewable Energy Sources Act”.
